Product Review Groups

This article explains how to configure Product Review Groups in Hygraph. Product review groups allow Product reviews from multiple products to be shared. This includes products on different tenants and storefronts. To view, edit or create a Product Review Group, in Hygraph via the left menu pane select Content, then in the DEFAULT VIEWS section, select Product Review Group.

A list of all existing Product Review Groups, from all tenants and storefronts will be displayed. Selecting an existing entry from the list will automatically redirect you to the edit page where the existing configuration can be viewed, edited and removed. To create a new Product Review Group, use the button on the top right section of the screen.

Components

There are only two components: A required Internal display name simple text field. And a Products component, where existing products can be selected and added to the Product review group. Please do not create new products in Hygraph, all products should be created in commercetools and will then be synced to Hygraph.

To add products, select the Add existing Product button in the Products component, a pop-up will appear with a searchable and filterable product list. Multiple products can be selected and added at once. Once the required products have been selected, confirm by pressing the Add selected entries button. All products added to the Product Review Group will then be listed.

On each product you may also see Product review group (productReviewGroup) and system field Review aggregate group id (reviewAggregateGroupId). Do not edit the aggregate id.

Save and publish

Finally, the entry must be saved and published before it will be live. In order for the shared Product reviews to be reflected across the websites and various pages, either all the products and relevant pages must be published individually, or a build must be requested via the slack channel. After this the reviews and review count of the products in the product review group will be shared.

Revalidation is not relational. See Page revalidation.

Some important points to keep in mind

If a product in a Product Review Group is unpublished (e.g. deprecated or relaunched under a new SKU), its published reviews still count for the other products in the group, if that product remains a member of the group. Only published reviews are shared — unpublished reviews are not shown.

Are you linking product reviews across tenants?

Then make sure your product reviews are also translated and checked for claims in all relevant localizations! See Product Review.

Already manually linked product reviews in the past?

That is not a problem. They won't show double on the website, they can overlap with the product groups, that is not a problem!

Prefer groups over duplicating the same review onto many products. Keep deprecated SKUs in the group only if you still want their reviews to count.
